50 Years later new photos still pop up!

I think I have more photos of John from this day than from any other date during his life.  Surprisingly, I continued to find new images even 50 years later.  I love them all!  I know more people have photos of John from this day, so please keep sharing those photographs and memories of meeting John. 

Rainy December night on Broadway

 

Sometime between December 18--22 Paul and Linda went to see the play that would win the 1975 Tony Awards for best play, Equus.  

This was a "leave the kids with the nanny" type of night because Equus while being considered one of the best plays of the 20th century, was very controversial.  It is the story of an 18-year-old boy named Alan, who was a stableboy who blinded six horses.  His psychologist works to find out why he did such a thing and discovers things about the boy.  This play has two major nude scenes when Alan is naked riding a horse and another sexual scene between Alan and the female lead.  When Paul and Linda would have seen the show, Anthony Hopkins was playing the part of the psychologist.   It premiered in October 1974 and was showing at the Plymouth Theater on 45th Street. 

When I look at the weather graph for December 1974 in New York City, I see that the only day between December 18 and 22 that there was any rain was December 22, when there was 0.01 precipitation.   Every other date is 0.00  -- so I would think they saw the show on December 22, but I need to do more digging.

Last year I posted a fan story about Marilyn Blake meeting George Harrison   (click on the words George Harison to go to that story).   Here are the photographs of George that Marilyn took 45 years ago today.  

No more autographs from Paul

 

So our Paul has said that he is no longer going to sign autographs.   What are your thoughts about this?  It isn't shocking.   He has literally been signing for people his whole life.   He is almost 80 and if he wants to stop signing things, that is his choice.   He does not owe anyone an autograph and he has been very generous about signing things.   The other part of this is that he will no longer take selfies with fans.  That is a bit of a disappointment because I have always wanted to get my photo taken with Paul, but again it is understandable.  

I do wonder if Paul will continue to sign things for charity events (like Ringo does), do book signings and sign fans arms for tatoos.

October 16, 2001 --   Paul McCartney was back in New York City for the first time after 9/11 and he hit the streets in preparation for the Concert for New York.

Japan seems to be the only place in the world where Paul travels and fans are allowed to greet him at the airport.   He will sign a few autographs and wave to everyone.  I guess this is because Japanese police are good a crowd control and Paul feel somewhat safer than he does in other countries?
