Playboy Party 1978

 July 18, 1978

In 1974, Ringo and Keith Moon were banned from the Playboy Club in Los Angeles.  I guess they weren't banned from all Playboy properties because on this date in 1978, Ringo brought his children and his ex-wife, Maureen along with Keith Moon to a big Playboy family party.   It looks like everyone had a good time -- playing pool, watching hot air balloons, playing pinball,  eating and drinking fancy drinks and it looks like Lee got ahold of a party balloon (which when you are a kid, it is pretty exciting to get to play with a balloon from a grown up party).

Like father like son

June 12, 1992

I saw that Zak joined the All Starr Band the other night and played the drums while his Dad sang.  Zak of course is well known as the drummer for The Who.   But 30 years ago Zak was just known as Ringo's eldest son and was not a special guest drummer, but was drumming with the tour.

The first Beatle to become a Grandfather

On September 5, 1985, Ringo's oldest son, Zak, and his wife at the time, Sarah brought a beautiful little girl into the world.  They chose to name her Tatia Jayne Starkey.

Ringo becoming  a Grandfather was really big news at the time.  I guess because when we think of  The Beatles, we do not think of them being a Grandfather.    We think of a little old man that is very clean, but not our rock n roll drumming Ringo.

Newspapers and magazines were sent out to Tittenhurst in September of 1985 (a few weeks after the birth) to get photos and a story.

Ringo and his extended family

I always love how Ringo includes the daughter Maureen had with her second husband with the rest of the family.    Although isn't this incorrect?  Augusta is Lee and Zak's half-sister -- not their step-sister.
