In 1974, Ringo and Keith Moon were banned from the Playboy Club in Los Angeles.  I guess they weren't banned from all Playboy properties because on this date in 1978, Ringo brought his children and his ex-wife, Maureen along with Keith Moon to a big Playboy family party.   It looks like everyone had a good time -- playing pool, watching hot air balloons, playing pinball,  eating and drinking fancy drinks and it looks like Lee got ahold of a party balloon (which when you are a kid, it is pretty exciting to get to play with a balloon from a grown up party).

Could it really have been 20 years since this moment?    Stella McCartney wins the VH1 Vogue award and her Dad embarrassed her a bit by showing up with a t-shirt that says "About Flippin Time."   This is in response to a slightly similar t-shirt Stella wore when her Dad was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. 

Really thought --- 20 years already???

One last swim....

I hope everyone had a very nice Labor Day (not even sure if that is a thing in other countries---sorry!).   It is the official end of summer here and I typically go swimming on Labor Day one last time.   Sadly I have been sick all weekend and instead of swimming, I stayed home.   Feeling a bit better now so I will just have this Beatles pool photo to enjoy.

A trip to Kenwood in 1968

Here are some fan taken photos of a trip out to John and Cynthia's home, Kenwood circa 1968.  Most likely John wasn't home at the time.   However, this fan did take a photo of the house, the pool (well they tried to get the pool) and Julian playing with a friend.

This fan photo (which unfortunately covered in watermarks) was taken at the pool at George home, Kinfauns. What I think is neat about it is that you can see John's art very nicely and you can also see the trellis where Pattie took a very well-known photo of her and George. It sort of puts things into perspective for me.

so this photo falls into the "new to me" category and I liked it enough that I thought I would post it. Thanks to Guus for sending it along! John in the "Lost Weekend" era has always been a favorite time period for me! Notice that he is once again wearing May Pang's jeans in this photo!

Beatles in Jersey

In August 1963 The Fab Four played in Jersey (not New Jersey in the USA obviously...but Jersey in the U.K.). Some neat home video footage is available, including these shots of the Beatles with some lucky fans (taken on either August 9 or 10).
