Golden Celebration

In 2005-2006 Disney Parks were celebrating the 50th anniversary of Disneyland.   It was called the Golden celebration and all sorts of "golden" things were on display and sold at all of the Disney parks around the world.

Some Paul fans went to Disneyland in California in November 2005 before the Paul McCartney concert in Anaheim.   They bought a pair of golden Mickey ears and had "Paul" stitched on the back.    Toward the end of the concert,  one of the fans tossed the ears up on the stage and Paul picked them up and put them on.  Goofing around, he put them on Abe's head for a little bit, before putting them back on.  He wore them as he left the stage, as you can see here.

The fan was wearing her black Mickey ears and Brian Riddle saw her and made a symbol like Mickey ears above his head.

Day at the Pool

I love the photos of John and May in Palm Spring in late 1974 after they went to Disney World.   Think about this -- John had just recently signed the papers to dissolve the Beatles.  He bought a Mickey Mouse t-shirt at the Magic Kingdom and was spending a day by the pool with his girl (and son).

Beware my love

When these photos were taken of Wings in January 1976 while they were recording "Beware my Love,"  Paul was seen in several of the photos holding a Sorcerer Mickey Mouse electronic toy.   Since I love to find connections between the members of the Beatles and Disney, this interests me.

I found out the the toy is a Mickey Mouse electronic calculator made in Japan in the 1970's and distributed worldwide called "Mickey Math."    It came with a pouch, instructions and and plug-in adapter, so that you could plug it into the wall or use batteries.   Here is what the calculator looked like.

I would guess that one of the McCartney girls was playing with this toy and had it laying around the studio at the time of the session.    It looks like one of those toys you would ask your folks for, because it looked cool, but when you got it and realized that it was just math, you never used it.

Les Beatles

I recently purchased that book, Les Beatles.   It is written in French, which I can't read very well, but the photos are beautiful.    Paul is in Paris in this photo and I am pretty sure that he is with the authors of the book.   But what I really really like is Paul's Mickey Mouse shirt.   Awesome!

In this photo is  Jacques Volcouve.  He is considered  the top Beatles expert in France. He  wrote 9 books about the Beatles including one about  George  www.jacquesvolcouve.fr

Spending time with Mickey Mouse!

One of my biggest loves after the Beatles is all things Disney.  It is now my spring break (thank goodness!) and I am taking off for Orlando, Florida and Walt Disney World!  Yippie!   I am excited because I am leaving my computer and cell phone at home and just going to enjoy my time away.   So that means no updates on "Meet the Beatles for Real" for about a week.

I have taken off the moderating of the comments so that people can comment easily.   I hope not to come back and find a bunch of spam and unkind comments.    But if that happens, I will clean it up.

Paul and Bea were just at Disney World earlier this year.   I believe that Nancy's son goes to school in the Orlando area.   I would just die if they were back again while I was there (it is a long shot but not totally impossible!  Everywhere I go I am on on the Beatle look-out, aren't you?)

Have a great week everyone!  Talk to you soon.  Sara S.
