Broadway Baby

Here is a previously not shown frame from the summer (or late fall) of 1975 when John and Yoko were signing autographs at the Broadway play, "Same time Next year."   Yoko was pregnant with Sean at this time.

  1. Hi, the Getty photos website has a couple of pictures from that day watermarked on their website. They give the date of the picture as August 1, 1975. There's pictures of John and Yoko from two different days in September 1975 (that's all date wise I've been able to find out about those other two pictures) that pop up occasionally. The one I think is the earlier one, (because the baby bump looks a bit smaller than the one I think is later.) John and Yoko look like they might be leaving a restaurant. John looks like he's hurrying Yoko to the car, as the lightweight patterned cape she is wearing over a dark long dress is billowing out behind her a bit. She has zori (flat soled Japanese sandals) on her feet. The other one Yoko is wearing a blue dress with a matching jacket over it, and wearing a necklace that has a big pendant piece that lays over her then very large baby bump. In one of the three pictures Yoko is holding a booklet of some kind that has some person's picture of the front of it. The dress is not quite as dressy as the one she wore to the play in August or the restaurant. Yoko did participate in the avant-garde festival of New York on September 27, 1975 and John was with her (originally he was to do a performance art piece too but canceled, but newspaper reports state he was there. Yoko's performance piece sounds like it was quite nice- people were invited to plant tiny trees along a path...

And the later one Yoko's face looks a bit puffy- I know Yoko has mentioned in interviews that the Doctor yelled at her at one point for gaining "too much weight" and this is the only photo that shows any signs of that during her pregnancy. The later one I've actually seen 3 photos from that day. The earlier, just one, and only in black and white)
