In November 1970, George and Pattie took a trip to Florida for a little rest and relaxation after the All Things Must Pass recording sessions. Everytime they ran into someone that recognized them, George would ask them to keep the trip a secret until after he left
These are the only photos that I am aware of from this trip.

Isn't the photo of George and Pattie sitting on a golf cart, where George is eating a golf ball, also from this trip?
ReplyDeleteWhen I talked to Patty Boyd at her book signing in Palm Beach she said that photo was from this trip. Post the picture if you have it, I haven't been able to find it online.
DeleteWhat is that animal at Patty's feet? It looks like a lioness!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a cougar. Also known as a mountain lion.
DeleteIn florida it's a panther.
DeleteA friend of the family pulled up in a station wagon with the mountain lion that day.
DeleteI was living at the apt. complex owned by George'd uncle (Gregg Apts.). We all had a fun picnic that day.
I have a photo of George & I in front of my apt.(Gregg Apts./Deerfield Beach)
ReplyDeleteWas living there studying music at the time. Got to hang with him & Pattie for a while. Great people!
Hi Rick, I'm Jeff Fisk with the Deerfield Beach Historical Society and I first heard about George and Pattie's visit in 1971 when I was 11. I'd like to interview you if possible, I have so many questions. You can message me Jeff Fisk on Facebook. PS I talked to Patty Boyd at her book signing in Palm Beach and the Mountain Lion was owned by a friend of George's sister Louise. Could that friend have been Preston Henn?
DeleteWonder what city of town they were in?
ReplyDeleteNeed some clarification the people in the photos.
ReplyDeleteThose are my photos. I made copies and sent them to Pattie
We were invited up to Deerfield by Uncle Jock., to meet George and Pattie.
So in the photos are of Aunt Mimi Ron Newton, my husband, Pattie, George, Shari Newton, and Uncle Jock. we drove up from Miami with our cat. His name was Chee Chee.
I took the photos. Just discovered there was a 55 year
George Harrison memorial for his visit
to Deerfield Beach in 1970. It was a
year ago. The one where his uncle
Jock invited us up,
We took Chee Chee with us. not a Fl cat.
Included in that memorial were the
18 only personal photos "marked
from a private collection", the very ones
I sent Pattie after that visit, She kept
them all this time, and had them restored.
I'm so blown away. She's still alive.

They got a few things wrong about his
visit, he stayed with Uncle Jock and
Aunt Mimi, not a motel. They owned
a small 8 unit apartment bldg. They
were in one of the units. And we were
not nosey neighbors with a cat, we
were invited distant relatives.
I'm 83 now, with a memory like a steel trap.
This should end all the misinformation.
You can find me through search.
