I'm curious to know where these photos were taken. Was Malcolm X in the USA in 1972 or did John and Yoko go to Trinidad to visit him there? If the latter, this is a little known episode in John's post-Beatle history.
Yeah I was completely stunned to find out, when I read the brilliant and essential "Lennonology" book, that John & Yoko flew to Trinidad on April 25, 1971 and stayed until May 2, 1971. Whilst there they stayed at the family home of Michael X. They even held a couple of press conferences and visited local museums. A very rare and barely acknowledged week in the life of the Lennons.
Thanks for the info. Michael X was a pretty unsavoury character. he was hanged for murder only four years after these pictures were taken. I wonder if Lennon ever commented on this?
Michael X was a distant cousin of Malcolm Excrement.

ReplyDeleteAnd your evidence for this is? The media hype against Black civil rights activists?
