An online Beatles fan club for and about Beatle fans
Sara: I'm pretty sure that this is a photo of Paul with Jurgen Vollmer, the photographer (and friend of Astrid and Klaus) who took photos of the band in Hamburg in 1961 (including the Lennon doorway shot) and whose hairstyle inspired the Beatle cut.
Well boo! So much for going with a caption. The picture is so washed out, that it is difficult to make out the faces. Or maybe it was just my wishful thinking that there was a nice photo of Paul and Stu.
maybe should clean your glasses better *lol* i saw first that is jurgenhere better versionhttp://belatednerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/PAUL-AND-VOLMER.jpg
correct Mark is Jürgen Vollmer with Paul in Paris
Yup...that's Jurgen with Paul...not Stu Sutcliffe.
Are we sure it's not from the trip J & P made to Paris for John's 21st? They met Jurgen there and he styled their hair for them.
here John and Paul in Paris http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SMY4ZUpllYE/VJ7PdClnzbI/AAAAAAABLjM/93iBd2xl5CA/s1600/John%2BLennon%2Band%2BPaul%2BMcCartney%2Btravel%2Bto%2BParis%2Bin%2B1961%2B(2).jpgParis is BurningSeptember 30 - October 15, 1961John Lennon receives a generous gift of 100 English pounds from his aunt Mater (sister of his mother Julia). He decides immediately that he and his musical partner Paul McCartney should spend some time soaking up the romantic atmosphere in Paris, France. Completely out of character, they run off to the continent and spend the money lounging in cafes and looking cool. They connect with an old friend from Hamburg, one of the exis, Jurgen Vollmer, who is in Paris studying photography. During this visit they are immersed in French youth culture. One feature of French cool is the longer "continental" hairstyle they will permanently adopt while on this visit. They have been leaning in that direction for months now. On this visit they really commit to the nouveau style. No more going back to the Elvis/Gene Vincent inspired pompadour or "waterfall" haircuts.
Nevermind... sorry. Just saw the Paris comment above.
