Is that Ron Decline?

Why were John and Yoko hanging out with this guy?  I recently read information about him slapping John Lennon and hitting Mal Evans with an umbrella.   Besides all of the money issues---he just didn't seem like someone you'd want to socialize with, but what do I know?

  1. I believe in '72 J & Y still though he was the cat's whiskers.

  2. I believe this is from the BMI dinner, NYC, June 1972. Lee Eastman was there also!

  3. Would have been funny if Lee and Ron Decline were the ones who had the fisticuffs!

You don't get to be Allen Klein (or John Lennon!) if you can't be a king shmoozer! Don't underestimate how an artist feels when someone in the business actually knows and appreciates your work, and quote your lyrics. Klein goes way back to the Sam Cooke days, I'm sure he's got some stories that a John Lennon would appreciate hearing!

John and Yoko don't look particularly thrilled, though Klein does! I'm sure if things weren't going well that particular night, Klein would show up and shmooze just twist the knife!

I just got the new biography about Klein, I'm very interested to read it!

  4. met Mr. Klein many years ago at the office on Broadway in NYC and he was pleasant to us as we looked at the large photos of the lads on the walls; RIP Mr. Klein.

  5. 6:22 PM MADE SOME GOOD POINTS. SEEMED TO ME AT THE TIME THAT KLEIN AND EASTMAN WERE BOTH SHMOOZERS ONLY ONE WAS IN TEE & JEANS, THE OTHER IN A 3 PIECE SUIT.

  6. Allen Klein was everything you've read about and so much more. He was sneaky, cunning and never played by the rules. John,George & Ringo really should have signed with Lee Eastman at the time (if those were their 2 choices) Allen Klein really wound up screwing George royally up the arse with Bright Tunes. The only piece of scum worse than Allen Klein in the music industry was Morris Levy - two ruthless SOB's if there ever was any. Having been in the music business for many years, once you've met Klein, you would soon want to run as far away from him as possible. And yes, Lee Eastman was at the same function for BMI. Looking back at Paul's assets, Lee Eastman did a good job as well as his son John. They would have done the same for all four of them-John was being a prick about the whole thing.

  7. What's that about hitting Mal with an umbrella?!! What was going on there? Also, did Klein actually fire and re-hire Mal?
