These are great! Do you mean to say they got rid of the extra scenes, they discarded the film bits? That's a total shame! I had hopes we'd see them one day.
Richard Lester tells a story of taking a trip to UA to preview the outtakes of A Hard Days Night and Help for another project, some time in about 1968 or 1969. He missed the skip they were thrown into by about two weeks... :(
That's British comedian Frankie Howerd (yes, with an "erd") in most of the photos you posted. He plays an acting teacher named Sam Ahab and the Beatles attend his school - the "Sam Ahab School of Transcendental Elocution". Howerd was upset when his scene was cut. He later appeared as Mean Mr. Mustard in the Bee Gees' 1978 film fiasco, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately at that time, deleted scenes and bloopers were discarded, thrown out. Only a few survived. Now, everything is saved.
DeleteThank you, Jeanette. I guess people at the time didn't realize how big the boys would be so many years later!

DeleteNot really true at all. Plenty of stuff gets lost or discarded these days as well. Especially in the days of digital media without too many backups.
