Maharishi on parade

Sometimes I just come across some strange items.    Here is something interesting...it appears that the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was in a parade in July 1968 someone in America.  Maybe it was a 4th of July parade?    But there he is, just four months after half of the Beatles left him.   I would have gone out and seen Maharishi just to see the guy that the Beatles were with in India.

He just seems so out of place in a parade.   And he is holding a sign with his name on it.   I wonder what those people on the side are thinking?

  1. John was really the only Beatle who "left" Maharishi. But even John phoned to apologize, years later, realizing his mistake. The two surviving Beatles still practice Transcendental Meditation and did a benefit concert for TM just a few years ago. 1. Yes, but in July of 1968 the fans would not have known the complete story. At that time, all that was known was that John and George left him and they we not very happy with the man. The whole story did not come out until much later.

  2. George met with the Maharishi (in Holland I think) after his treatment in Switzerland, on his final trip late 2001, en route to the USA where he passed away.

  3. or simply someone dressed as him? since he was topical right then, and not hard to impersonate!

  6. I think it's not Maharishi, but someone dressed up like him for fun. It would just be out of character for Maharishi. Plus, the man looks much taller than Maharishi, and it looks like sheets wrapped around him, not a real dhoti.

  7. I had no clue that this goofy photo would cause such a stir. If it isn't really him, then I hope the person that just spent $40 on the photo on ebay knows that.
