Man of Mystery

So I bought this photo off ebay.   Yes I spent waaaay more than I intended to, but oh well.   I think not getting that John Lennon photo ticked me off so much that I wasn't going to let the next one slip away.  So I bought this Paul photo (along with two photos of Paul in concert) and it is a mystery to me.

The photo was taken by someone named "Jenny V." who was from Oxnard, California.   According to the ebay seller, he purchased a Beatles collection from this woman who was a Beatles fan club president in California.    On the back of the photo Jenny has written, "Taken in Kentucky while on tour."   Now we Beatle fans all know that the Beatles never went to Kentucky on any of their U.S. tours.   Since they mostly flew from place to place, I do not think they ever even drove though Kentucky.   However, I think this girl, Jenny was trying to be funny.   She has some "funny" captions written on the back of other photos.   So I don't think she seriously meant to say that it was Paul in Kentucky.

There are some numbers on the back of the photo, which I thought said "Aug 08" but the guys weren't on tour in the U.S. on Aug 8.   So that didn't help either.

If any of you know Jenny or can help shed some light on this photo, please do so.   I don't even know what year the photo was taken!

And if you can't help, I hope you at least enjoy this photo that hasn't been seen by a whole lot of people (I hate it when a photo is called "never before seen" because obviously SOMEONE saw the photo!).

When you spread this around the internet tomorrow, please try to remember where you found the photo. :)

  3. For sure 1965. He was wearing the same glasses in Portland. It's nighttime-maybe after the Atlanta show?

  4. Now THAT is what I call a picture of a Beatle!!!! Way cool!!!

Sara, thank you so much! I can see why you paid so much for it! And then you turn around, and share it with us??? You are like the Beatle Fairy!

I love the look on the girls faces, too.

Ok, so, I'm going to weigh in on Chuck's comment....wouldn't after a show, they not change and just run away in their stage clothes? (badly worded sentence, I know, sorry teacher!). I can't investigate this now, but my guess (especially because he's carrying his own bag) is a nighttime arrival? At a hotel, or airport?

Hey Diboland, love your blog but c'mon...warm up a bit! Wow. Poor Sara! The internet, huh? Dibo, do as Ringo would do...be nice!

(by the way, did anyone see that amazing Maureen interview on the Truth About The Beatle Girls blog?? It's from the late 80s, a must-read! I found an article over there about Little Debbie Fyall as well, from the New York Daily news, I'm not sure if you're still looking for info about her!).

Fantabulous photo! Dazzling! Thanks again, Saracadabra!!!!! You rock! You rock, and your little blog too! (wiz of oz reference ;)

  5. Paul in the same glasses and what looks like the same T-shirt and jacket was seen on 20 August 1965 in Chicago airport. You can see photos here: http://img.beatles.ru/f/1880b/1880927.jpg

  6. If it's an original Polaroid, then Sara owns the copyright, as there is, obviously, no negative.

    And it's a great photo!

  7. great photo, sara! i'm sure i've seen it before. i might even have a copy of it somewhere. polaroids were not in that format. they were square and had a larger white border at the bottom.

  8. It depends which type of film was used. 100 Series produced rectangular photos, 80 Series produced square.
