Stop! And Smell the Roses

Samantha Curtis, 10, of Wickford, appears in the film alongside Ringo.

News story from 1981:

" When Ringo film the promo at Egham, Surrey, he employed 59 members of the Wickford Youth Band and Majorettes for a little assistance.  The kids were given special permission from the headmasters of all the schools for the time off.  Ranging in age form 7 to 18, they started work as soon as they reached the film location with just two five minute breaks in five hours of filming.  The band's secretary, Mrs. June Johnson, said, "it was short notice, but we said we would be delighted to do it.  The girls were absolutely thrilled.  It was a once-in-a-lifetime day.  It was fantastic!"   The film shows a mock traffic jam in France caused by the band and majorettes marching, with Ringo dressed as a traffic cop walking along the ranks of the band and majorettes singing his song.  he also gave impromptu drum lessons to the kids during film takes and four of the parents were even asked to be extras, given striped jerseys and berets to wear.  Ringo commented later what well-behaved children they were.
