Happy Birthday Johnny!

This is a short article found in the now no longer published fanzine, Beatlology.   It is from the amazing Sept/Oct 2003 issue (more about that later).   It was written by Rob Shockleton.   It reminds of of this story (part 1) and (part 2) about another person who had a connection to John's birthday cake on his 31st birthday.

I am a subscriber to Beatlology Magazine and live in Syracuse, N.Y.  A close friend of my family was a cake decorator for a bakery here in the city during the early Seventies.  She decorated John Lennon's birthday cakes while they were in town for Yoko's exhibit at the Everson Museum.  I have two very nice photos.   One is a photo of John's cake that had the piano on top.  the collector's footage that I have only shows the guitar shaped one.  The second photo is of Ringo and Maureen eating the cake.  Klaus Voormann can be seen in the background.  I don't believe any other photo exists of this cake.  It's just a little slice of Beatles history (pun intended!)
