The Fab four with a fab car
I noticed this photo during the Paul McCartney concert pre-show (which was awesome I may add, especially for me who loves to look at Beatles / McCartney photos and videos). I remembered that I had just saved this photo to my computer recently. Does anyone know where it was taken?

Liverpool, September 1962.
ReplyDeleteI have a photo of this car standing outside Forthlin Road in the early 60s. The photo description says, it's Paul and Mike's Ford Classic.
ReplyDeleteCan you upload this somewhere and also tell us about the origin of the photo description? That would be great!
DeleteIf you send me the photo (Starshyne9@yahoo.com) I can put it on the blog.
DeleteLate September 1962, Albert Dock, Liverpool, according to beatlesource.com. It features a alternate photo of this scene:

Thanks Ken! I should have checked the Beatlesource before I posted the photo.
DeleteIt was only a lucky guess - I figured their look is similar to the one they featured on those "dump/bombing-site"-photos (with the wrecked car etc.) and so I had a starting point where to look for, otherwise I might not have found it either.
DeleteYes, The Albert Dock in Liverpool. Right by The Pumphouse

Liverpool
Ever since we went to Liverpool a few years ago, my mom insists that they need to rename it the "Uncle Albert Dock"
DeleteA little more concrete: It's from September 19, 1962 in front of The Salvor, Albert Dock, Liverpool.
ReplyDeleteThis was Paul's first new car, a Ford Consul Classic Mk 3. When he picked it up from the dealer he passed an old schoolteacher who had said he'd never get anywhere.
