John does his typical "standing outside of Kenwood" stance for a fan's camera. This is the earliest fan photo I have seen of John standing outside of Kenwood. According to the site that I found it, the photo was in a fan's scrapbook for many years and was written "1966" next to the photo. Interesting that John is wearing the "red and white striped shirt" that the guys all seemed to wear in the mid-1960's.
I LOOOOVE this - never seen it before!
ReplyDeleteStriped shirts were big in the mid 60's. Maybe the company the made them or a fan gave one to each Beatle?
ReplyDeleteJohn looks a bit miffed!!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot! Never seen before. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, John never looked too comfortable around fans, and this is a fan photo. Maybe I'm wrong.
ReplyDeleteI was so excited when I located this photo last night. I had never seen any of John at Kenwood from 1966. I think it is a great photo and I am glad the rest of you enjoy it as well.
ReplyDeleteI find this pic interesting for my own stupid reasons..
ReplyDeleteWhen I think 1966 Beatles, I think late 1966, because their early 1966 style was still kind of 1965. This pic is totally John in transition - he's got the 1965 haircut but his body is thinner and so not "Fat Elvis" of 1965 - and then the T-shirt is really not something the very put-together 1966-1967 Beatles typically wear, seems like something John would wear in 1964 - it's just not a good look on his thinner body as well because the thick horizontal stripes are screaming "wide" whilst his frame is obviously narrower
It's just such an odd photo, I have to say I thought it was Ringo before I read the caption and looked closer o_O
hmm, checking out the recent posts, I see Ringo wearing the same shirt, but he's got a jacket over top.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if the shirt would look much better on John with a jacket, perhaps if .. ... I'm gonna stop - I'm being way too obsessive XD
O_o Really, Lorie? I kinda like it...Don't know why, though, to be fair?
