I don't make a point of posting photos of people who aren't Beatles or Beatle related, but I thought this fan photo of Jimi Hendrix that I recently found was interesting because it was taken in the spring of 1967 in London. This would have been taken around the same time Jimi played the Sgt. Pepper song in concert just 2 days after it's official release and Paul was so impressed. (See the Anthology if you don't know what I am talking about it.). I thought it was neat to see a fan photo of Jimi Hendrix from that time....
great photo! i love jimi and i was at that concert!
ReplyDeleteWow, Wow, Wow.. Lizzie, would love to hear about that concert with Jimi! Don't mind the photo at all.., hey, it's all from around that time and place, same circles. It's all cool.
ReplyDeleteWow, Lizzie, this was such a classical gig ! I'm looking foward to read your book with all these stories ! I liked this picture very much as Jimi looks very relaxed and ready to rock !
ReplyDeletedavid and tiago, the concert is in my book. my friend paula, also from rio, plus several british friends were there as well. amazing moment!
ReplyDeleteHi Lizzie, I have a question - did you or any of the other fan "regulars" take pics of anybody else apart from the Beatles. As much as I like the Beatles, I am very much a student of the whole era and because the likes of the Stones, Who, Dylan, etc. were friends of The Beatles and visted Paul at Cav Ave and attended sessions at EMI, did any fans take pics of them? Even non-musicians e.g. Allen Ginsberg, Simon & Marijke (The Fool) is there fan photos of these people? Much as I like seeing the pics of The Beatles up on Greg and Sara's site coming in and out of their homes and studio, I'd really love to see some shots of other names from that era.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm sorry to add the pic of Jimi was taken in London in the summer of 1968 so the Sgt. Pepper Savile story doesn't quite fit.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo blog BTW.
Dear a car and a room, the problem is we were young, film and flashcubes were expensive, we were on a limited budget. Most of my photos are of John, followed by Paul (for my best friend Denise)and then George (for my friend Regina). I have only a couple of Ringo pix. I had more but they got lost. We didn´t take photos of other people because it would mean having less film to photograph the boys. I have a photo of Roger McGough from The Scaffold. I saw the Stones at EMI more than once (including Brian Jones in one instance), Mick at Paul´s house more than once, Donovan if I´m not mistaken, Paul´s brother Mike, his cousins (one was named Beth), his father, etc. But... I always saved my film. And I believe so did my friends. But I will ask around and see if anyone has anything to share.
ReplyDeleteI recommend checking out rising70's flickr account. He has a lot of fan photos of Hendrix and Elvis and maybe others. I believe rising70 views this blog and we often share Beatles photos.

Many thanks for replying, Sara and Lizzie
ReplyDeleteBTW...Hendrix met Paul, and also the other Beatles, as a few private parties they attended...there is even one photo of Jimi and Paul, standing close by each other, but not actually speaking.,,Paul was the one who recommended that Jimi Hendrix perform at the now historic Monterey Pop Festival, in 1967.
