"Same Time Next Year" is the name of a comedy play that was on Broadway from March 1975 - Sept 1978. During the summer of 1975 (for some reason I have July written down), John and Yoko went and saw this play. Yoko is very much pregnant with Sean, so August might be a better guess for the day the Lennons saw this production. Along with the two previous photos I posted of John, I also won two photos taken from the day they saw the play. I notice that John is wearing a neat beaded necklace in all but one of the photos. I wonder if he took the necklace off and gave it to a fan??? The two colored photos are the ones I just got. But I am adding all of the photos of this event just for the fun of it.
Hi Sara, I really enjoy your blog, I might have said it before but it won't hurt to tell you again how much I love it. As far as the picture with john missing the beaded necklace, it's there if you blow up the picture and look under his chin. There you will see the rose color beads just tucked under Johns chin, the white portion of the beads are partially blocked by his hair.
ReplyDeleteNo lucky fan that night. For years I always wondered what became of the Talisman necklace John wore. Then, one day I read the news about a lucky man who made the grade and bought it in an action for 750k. Whew, a bit out of my league. Enjoy the trip to England and avoid driving , it's insane in London. I did the Beatles walking tour 20 years ago and still remember it like it was yesterday.

Thanks again Jojo for the kind words about the blog. It still amazes me that here I am in Illinois and I can share my love for the Beatles with people all over the world and they actually are reading about it! Crazy!
ReplyDeleteNow that you point it out, you are right. I can see that neat beaded necklace just barely on John in the last photo. Oh well.
I am NOT going to drive in London. It is going to be the Tube for me all the way.
ride the buses in london, sara, you get to see so much more of the city!
ReplyDeleteHi Sara,
ReplyDeleteWondering if you have a photo credit for the above photos. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!
Emma
emma, i have at least one of those photos in color and if i'm not mistaken it was taken by the late vinnie zuffante.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lizzie! I would love to see a color version. Do you know who controls the rights to his photos?
ReplyDeleteI am not sure who has the right to the photos, but I do think Lizzie is correct that at least the colored ones were taken by Vinnie Zuffante.
ReplyDeletei believe i have the one where yoko is signing in color.
