Sad news coming out right now that Horst Fascher, the former promoter of the Star Club in Hamburg and frend of the Beatles & Rory Storm and the Hurricanes from that time period has passed away over the weekend.
I met Horst in 2013 (see photo) and found him to be a very kind man who was happy to share stories of his time at the Star Club with me. I particularly recall him excitedly talking to me about Elvis and how he tried to get him to play the club, and about when he sang "Hallelujah I Love Her So" onstage with the Beatles, and the surprise that the recording made it onto the Hamburg Tapes.
Rest in Peace, Horst! My sympathies go out to his family and friends.
