Meeting Pattie
By Joanne Ratner
The Harrison Alliance
July 1972
I saw Pattie on November 24, 1971. She was great. I was in the lobby of the hotel. George left at about 3:30, and it was 4:20. At 4:30 I had to leave. But finally Pattie walked out.
I went over to her and said, "Mrs. Harrison?" She said, "Yes". I said, "This is for you." I handed her a bag. In it was a wedding album I started in 1966, it is a collection of their wedding photos and articles.
The other thing in the bag was a yellow T-shirt with a George drawn face on it. She took the bag and said, "Thank you. What is this?" She opened the bag and took out the shirt, saying, "That's great. That's really great." I told her that it was a goof. I told her a goof was like a joke, and that I didn't think they had that word in England. She said they didn't, but she understood what I meant by it.
I asked to take her photo, and she looked like she was going to say no. I said it was okay if she couldn't come out, and she said that she had to meet some friends, but she'd be out in a few minutes. She came out with her two friends and moved away from them so I could get her in the pic. As she walked by me to the cab, she thanked me again for the shirt. The bag can be seen in the picture.
