Paul McCartney, one of the top pop singing Beatles group, put his foot down the night he was being followed by fans. Paul and the three other members of the group, who were in his car, did not escape. They were caught and stopped by police who had also joined the chase. Yesterday, Paul was fined £15  at Birkenhead, Cheshire, for speeding. He was also fined £2 for failing to produce his driving license and insurance. He pleaded guilty by letter and explained that the group had been returning home to Liverpool after appearing at a New Brighton ballroom. "People were following us in a van. So to escape, I exceeded the speed limit," he added. Last night, Mr. Brian Epstein, who manages the Beatles, said, "When the group leaves the theater, a procession of fans often follows. I will ask them to travel by coach on future tours."

  1. The picture you've used is of the Beatles on stage in Brighton but on 12 July 1964

    1. Well that is a bit disappointing -- that means I do not have any photos from the 1963 concert.

  2. The concert was at New Brighton Tower Ballroom (on the Wirral facing Liverpool) not Brighton on the South coast.
