This date John gave an interview and this is the date that is thought to be the end of the "Lost Weekend" because John returned to the Dakota. I always thought the line "the separation was a failure" was a little strange because, really, it was a success. The purpose to separate is to spend time apart so you can come back together and have a stronger relationship.
I think he meant the separation was a failure in the sense that it didn’t last, and they got back together. I think it was a positive message said with typical Lennon humor. My recollection is that he said something like - the separation didn’t work out - which is the opposite of the marriage didn’t work out, which, unfortunately is usually the case after a couple separates.
ReplyDeleteAnd he never completely left May. So their separation didn't work out either.
