National Portrait Gallery, London |
Families that I know used to go to Sears or J.C. Penney to get a family portrait taken. Not if you are in the McCartney family. You go to Bassano and Vandyk Studios and your nice family photos are now part of the National Portrait Gallery in London.
These photos were taken on April 14, 1969 (according to the National Portrait Gallery's webpage). It is amazing to know that it has been over 55 years since they were taken and we just now are seeing them.
Wow. Especially the third and last ones.
ReplyDeleteLater that day, Paul would meet up with John to record The Ballad of J&Y
ReplyDeleteAn odd set of photos. Who takes a portrait with their coat on? Who takes a portrait where you are not only not smiling but frankly look kind of miserable? Still, and interesting set. Hope they printed the last one! 😁
ReplyDeleteThese are wild! Not sure if these are better or worse than the typical JC Penney or Sears family phontos :) You do have to wonder what they were thinking for some of these.
ReplyDeleteStrange but beautiful at the same time. Paul is simply gorgeous here. 😍
ReplyDeletePerhaps pregnant Linda wasn't feeling all that well. Paul has his serious face on, but Linda just looks, for the most part, glum and dejected.
ReplyDeleteLinda looks tired here, and probably feeling unwell due to her pregnancy. 😒
DeleteI think it’s just her resting face.
DeleteThey remind me of alot of families who sit down initially for these things. Feeling nervous, uptight, trying to figure out what the photographer wants, etc.
ReplyDeletecould understand photographs of the Beatles shown at the Gallery but strange for family ones
