Heritage Auction is having a photo auction right now and part of the photos up for bid are amazing shots taken by Linda (Eastman) McCartney during The Beatles era. Every so often Paul will release a photo of him and George together in the recording studio during the recording of Abbey Road. Well -- the entire negative sheet is up for auction. Take a look at that! There are some other gems there, especially if you are someone who likes an almost-naked Paul McCartney.
Take a look
"Likes" an almost naked Paul? Ha! We call that the "Move the Baby" shot.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. And sad in a way that can't be explained.
Yes there are 2 "move the baby" shots and one Paul in the tub.
Deleteguess I'm naive that paul would have let linda take those photos
Deleteall her photos would have made her a future mint had they ever divorced
DeletePaul is an earthy, sensuous being. Why wouldn't he? Linda said the Move the Baby shot was taken for her own appreciation of the beauty of the moment. And of course the pic later on ended up in the first edition of her book of photos.
DeleteLinda once said that Paul always looked warm in her photos. Yes, but in these two particular pics he sure looked sexy. 😍💋
Deletelol -reckon it's closest thing to John's two virgins
DeleteThank goodness Sara didnt post the outtake pic of Paul in the Wrigleys getup from Help! Some of you ladies would need oxygen masks after seeing that lol :-)
DeleteI wonder how Mary felt about it.
ReplyDeleteThose were hippy days, and they were doing hippy stuff like that. Who knows how Mary felt about it, but neither Paul or Linda seemed phased. But it's none of our business anyway, imo.
Deleteshe probably wouldn't care now as she idolizes her dad and mum
DeleteJust because Mary idolizes her parents doesn't necessarily mean she'd feel comfortable about everything they did. If Paul and Linda weren't *fazed then they shouid have been. Linda took a few inappropriate photos of her children which were published in her books. They seem to have been withdrawn from the public eye for good reason.
DeleteWe can sit here all day and speculate how Mary feels, or doesnt feel, etc. At the end of the day, none of us know for sure. It is a family issue (or most likely a complete NON-issue). It is NONE OF OUR BUSINESS.
DeleteEvery parent out there makes mistakes in raising their children. Mary and Stella were raised differently from the rest of us, but certainly their childhood was filled with warmth and lots of love. In those days taking photos of kids in the nude was quite the norm. Today, it's all about being politically correct. The situation has gone to such extreme that it's become ridiculous. I believe that Mary is very confident in her own skin, and she isn't embarassed with those pics. Besides, she and her sister have become two very fine women, and they both adore their parents. ❤️
Delete:) No one is ever completely comfortable with everything their parents did. Which photos did you find inappropriate? I remember not liking the one of Mary as a baby, wearing Linda's bra, clearly upset and tearful. Seemed exploitive, for the sake of "art."
DeleteLinda's photos of her children were definitely nowhere near as revealing or provocative as someone like Sally Mann. I admire Sally Mann's work, but have some reservations about how far she went with her photos of her children. Linda's work was open and emotional, without guile.
Delete6:41 PM very right
DeleteAll I've read are excuses. Nobody's denying they weren't loved. It is not political correctness. It isn't just about Mary. Children have rights including the Beatles' children. Heather was six for god's sakes when photographed nude and crying. That is not open and without guile, wt... Why don't you people be honest with yourselves and admit how you would feel if nude photos of you as children were published for all the world to see. Innocent photos should stay within the family, but to publish them in a book???
DeleteI disagree. Some of you here, seem to be forgetting that Mary is also a proffesional photographer. So I'm assuming she looks at these photos in a different light than you. Besides, most of us here enjoy seeing these photos. So kudos to Linda. 🤗
Deletedid not like seeing the kids run down the street alone at cavendish half naked and certainly not naked in photos by their mother
DeleteAppreciate and agree 8:18 a.m. Before this came up I did a search for interviews with Mary and though I had seen most of them, was happy to find new ones. Mary always speaks in glowing terms of Linda and her work, and expresses the same mix of feelings when she reflects on Linda as a mother and artist: a blend of innocence and sadness.
DeleteI recall that by mid-seventies, Linda's perception through her camera lenses began to change, especially after James was born in 1977. Even, his chiodhood was different from his sisters.
DeleteUp for auction elsewhere is a 1972 Grammy given to John that he apparently did not want. So why would someone bid on this, other than the fact that they have money to throw away I suppose
