Well -- she isn't actually auditioning to be IN the Beatles -- but she was one of the first Apple artists. And look- Ringo is wearing his 1966 tour jacket again.
Most of us would be pretty timid and shy too if the 4 most popular people on the planet would be sitting a mere few feet away. Cue the Saturday Night Live Macca-Farley skit.
Mary's recorded and sang with other artists since then currently with her daughter. It's interesting that she was married to producer Tony Visconti who was also married to May Pang once.
Mary was/is a sensitive person, gifted with a beautiful voice and strong musical abilities. My impression is she did things her way, in a career that lasted as long as she wanted things to, and she managed to avoid a lot of the pitfalls that come with the business.
Mary was lovely, but really so shy and timid.
