ReplyDeleteJohn trusted Klien, and looked at him as a fatherly figure. And cunningly, Klien showed interest in Yoko's so called art, just to please John. In turn, both Yoko and Klien didn't like Paul, and did their best to turn John against him. Main examples: John 's interview with Jann Wenner, and the song "How do you sleep?"Sad really.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if Yoko didn't like Paul. That night be an overstatement. The same could be said of George, initially. (MarkZapp)
DeleteI always got the feeling that George was immensely delighted, when he played on "How do you sleep?" He kept badmouthing Paul after the split. Then ended up working with him in the ninties, on the Anthology seies. Glad that the two men made up before he died.
DeleteYoko might have liked Paul in her own way. But she didn't want John to work with him again. And after her husband died, she publicily said some cruel things about Paul.
DeleteJohn placed his trust in quite a few people who turned out to be anything but trustworthy. He also had good instincts about people (Paul is a perfect example) who were part of his life in a profound way.
