Saying Goodbye to Hilary

I am very sad to learn that Hilary Gerrard has passed away.   He was Ringo's producer from the 1970s and beyond -- but with as many photographs that you see of Hilary and Ringo throughout the years, it is obvious that he and Ringo were good friends.   I read that he was the best man at Ringo and Barbara's wedding in 1981 (but then I also read that Harry was the best man and that BOTH of them were the best men!).    He went through a lot with Ringo and was one of the few friends that remained close to him and Barbara after they went to rehab.    My condolences go out to the Starkeys and to Hilary's family during this time.     And whenever you see a photo of Ringo -- take a look in the background because Hilary Gerrard most likely isn't too far behind him.

  2. Sad to hear this. I met and chatted with Hilary a couple of times over the decades, starting with the first time I met Ringo, which was in the underground passenger drop-off at D/FW Airport in April 1978. Ringo was in Dallas promoting his "Ognir Rrats" NBC special. Talked to Hilary again in 1992 at Ringo's Dallas area hotel. He was instrumental in getting Ringo to fill out a Q & A I'd prepared. Hilary was a nice fellow for sure.

  4. I worked for Ringo in his offices off Berkeley Street and often met Hilary my fondest memories of him was coming into the office with a long cape around his shoulders and a long pony tail he was an amazing personality I loved working there but unfortunately Ringo was only allowed 90 days a year to reside in the country due to tax purposes so I had to leave but I loved working there and meeting some amazing personalities RIP Hilary love ❤️ Sheila

  5. Really sorry to hear this; Hilary would have been NINETY today. (b.1London 7th January 1933) . I got to speak with him last year to write a short biography (on . "Hilary Bluebyrd" rather than Hilary Lester Gerrard!). He checked that I was an engineer who was working on a book on his - and Ringo's - great friend Marc Bolan ; no journalist was ever entertained! "He lived the poems that he could not write"
