Thank Goodness it's Fridays!

June 27, 1997 - At the time, the interview on "Fridays" was one of my favorites.

  1. Looks like UK Beatles fan and collector Pete Nash with Paul.

    1. I am pretty sure you are right about that. However -- it was on the set of the TV show "Fridays." I vaguely recall some story about him meeting Paul on the set. I love his choice of t-shirt for the occasion. You can never go wrong with a Blue Meanies shirt. Hope all is well with you, Mark!

    2. Doing great, Sara! Thanks! Keeping up with the book through Eric. I don't know Pete Nash really, but we have emailed back and forth in the past. He must have been in the States for the "Fridays" show. I used to watch it all the time in the very early '80s. Hilarious sketch show with several players who went on to much greater things -- like Larry David and Michael Richards.

    3. Don't know why it showed me as "anonymous", but it was me, of course!

  2. The photo of Pete was taken in London at the live show T.F.I Friday (I'm sure i don't need to spell out what the T F I stands for) on 27 June, 1997, It was a popular show here in the UK and was hosted by DJ Chris Evans. When Paul was booked as a guest, the show's producers wanted to deck out part of the set with Beatles memorabilia. Someone alerted them to Pete and he got to meet Paul in the bar.area, hence the pint of beer. Hope that clears it up.

    1. Thanks for the clarification! There was a popular sketch show in the States called "Friday's" and I thought that was the show. But then I wondered why Pete would be in the U.S. for the show. Now that you cleared this up, it makes sense because the American show aired in the early 1980s -- and the guys would have been much younger.

  3. I got ahold of a VHS in 1997 of the program on a "bootleg" tape of various Beatles stuff from that year. This particular interview was one I liked a lot at that time.
