Not quite Get Back Session

These photos do not fit in with the January 1969 Get Back Sessions.    Does anyone know anything about this recording session?   What were they recording and when did it take place?

  1. Trident Studios, 22 February 1969, recording "I Want You (She's So Heavy)." See: https://www.the-paulmccartney-project.com/session/recording-i-want-you-shes-so-heavy/

  2. Yes, they're from February 1969 while recording "I Want You (She's So Heavy) at Trident Studios in London.

  3. Probably February 22-24, 1969 at Trident Studios recording "I Want You (She's So Heavy)," or perhaps the next day at Abbey Road recording demos of some George songs - "Old Brown Shoe," "All Things Must Pass," and "Something" (also was his birthday). Maybe someone else can tell the two studios apart.

  4. I've always thought these were from the 'missing' February 20th 1969 session ('missing' as in not recorded in Lewisohn's book of recording sessions).

    1. I guess that is why I had these photos in a file labeled "Unknown Session February 1969??" I had no idea what I meant by "unknown session." Thanks for the help!

  5. Looks to be Trident Studios in London... Feb.22,1969.Apple Studio was being rebuilt and The Beatles with Billy Preston worked on an early take of "I Want You" at Trident...which would turn up on "Abbey Road".

  6. these are from the mystery session that is either at apple or trident studios from feb. of 1969. i think it's from apple because of the green carpet and the big wooden door on the right.by the way,the get back doc. was excellent. (beatle55).

    1. That is why I thought it was at Apple -- the wooden door where Ringo farted. (HAHAHA!) seemed to be in the background.

  7. These are definitely Apple Studio, not Trident, and Peter Jackson discusses this "mystery" session in his recent excellent interview on the Things We Said Today podcast. Highly recommended listening.

  8. Ethan Russell was asked a few years ago if this is from the Dont Let Me Down session. "That's a good guess". Which, errr, is not exactly a firm confirmation.

I'm going with I Want You. if you look at pics of George's 1969 session at Trident with the Modern Jazz Quarter, the white walled panels look identical to those seen in the Mystery session pics.

  9. This is definitely in the basement of Apple. You can clearly see the oddly skewed windows of the control room in the middle photo behind tea sipping John and crouching George.

  10. I see Heather in the fourth photo on the floor by Paul. Maybe Linda took the photos.

  13. Lewisohn proved that the sessions from february until may 5th were intended to finish get back but were cut because glyn johns' get back included only january sessions + overdubs.
