Are you excited?

I cannot explain how excited I am to see "Get Back."   Barely anyone in my "real life" seem to understand my excitement.   "What are you doing over Thanksgiving break?"   I want to yell "What do you think I'm doing!"   I am sure that you are just as excited.   Footage of the Beatles that we have never seen before!

In light of Thanksgiving and Get Back, I am going to take a brief break from this site for the rest of the week, although I might share a few Thanksgiving-themed photos on Thursday.

What are you thankful for this year?   Besides the usual things (family, friends, health, a job, etc) I am extremely thankful for the Beatles!

  2. Excitement mounting! I haven't felt lol me this since the Anthology came out in 1995. I spent about $325.00 Monday night buying Beatles memorabilia. That broke all records for me for a single day's purchase. A lot of it is, of course, coming out because of Get Back coming out. There are so many magazines out right now with the Beatles on the cover that it's reminiscent of 1964. (MarkZapp)

  4. I just finished part one! oh my gosh, I'm emotionally wrung out, wow! So many things to say about it! It's a work of art! It's not just another music documentary! Just the intro: the most concise way I've ever seen of explaining the Beatles' career. The stuff with Mal, helping with the lyrics, amazing. As if it wasn't possible to love Mal more than we already did. Seeing Beatle "villains" like Denis O'Dell and Dick James is revelatory. Seeing Linda made me burst out crying - I never had any feeling for LInda one way or another, but seeing her in this movie made me see how Paul saw her. She was beautiful, cool and talented. Seeing Glyn Johns contribute....that's priceless! The editing is brilliant. What a job! I have to take a break before I dive into Part 2......but I am LOVING this! I don't know how non-musicians or non-Beatle fans will like this, but for me, this is holy grail stuff. And I already have listened to the over 80 hours of audio that's been bootlegged! Amazing how he was able to lower the volume of the guitars so that you could hear the conversations; this technology did not exist in 1970, hence why so much of this did not make the "Let It Be" movie. AMAZING! (What do YOU think, Sara?!!!)
PS: When they listen to the Lizzie version of "Across The Universe", I actually stood up and held my chest. I wish he had included a bit of their voices but still.....how I wish Lizzie and Gayleen could have seen that. :( Love you, Beatlepeople! (except for the one that harasses Sara. You I don't care for!)

  5. It was AMAZING!!! Better than I ever expected. Thank you Peter Jackson and all of the Beatles and Apple people. I am still buzzing from watching it. Sort of when I watched Free As A Bird on TV that night it premiered. But it went on for 8 hours!

  6. I am a little bit overwhelmed with emotions and thoughts after watching all three parts over the past few days. I need to give myself a little time to digest it all -- plus the 20th anniversary of George's death is tomorrow, so that is very emotionally too. I loved it. I also loved seeing Eileen and SueJohn in part 2 and seeing the girls outside of Apple while the Beatles were recording. Oh and Mal -- I have always been a fan and always have talked him up on this blog, and I hope now that everyone else sees why. I just wish I could talk to Lizzie about how handsome John looked.

  10. very good to see the lads again after so many years; the dynamic between them was bittersweet in so many ways and interesting to see how john & paul seemed to need their wives for support in having them there
