An online Beatles fan club for and about Beatle fans
This photo was taken on July 9, 1969. Cathy Sarver is the girl in the background. Anyone know who actually took this photo?
Hi Sara, I believe the photo was actually taken on 23 July 1969. The young man to Cathy Sarver's right is Joachim Noske and the photo may have been taken by Shaun Weiss (step-son of Beatles' US lawyer Nat Weiss and friend of several Apple Scruffs) who liked to stand at the top of the EMI Studio steps to take photos.
None of the Apple Scruff remember ever having met Shaun (also called Vinny at that time) in 1969 (or ever actually). I have some other photos take this same day. I will re-check the date. Thanks!
Shaun told me yesterday that he took this photo and that he knew Cathy.
Oh, he changed his name? I have tried to find out more about him, but can't. Dodgy...
People can say whatever they want though, can't they? None of the Apple Scruffs knew him -- none of them. He is a fraud plain and simple and I know he will come at me for saying that, but I am tired of pretending that I don't know that he is a fraud. Nat Weiss was never married. He did not have any children -- adopted or otherwise. Have you ever seen a picture of him and his "dad?" So let's just drop this made up story and start looking at read Beatles history again.
7/9? Wasn't John in a car crash on 7/1?
Yes it was. This is the timeline that I have (and I know it very well could be wrong). The car crash was July 1. On July 3 Ringo and Maureen take John and Yoko's place at the reception for Give Peace a Chance. On July 6 John and Yoko left the hospital in Scotland. July 7 (Ringo's birthday) was John's first day back in the studio. Is your timeline different? I know I have had a hard time figuring this out because I have found conflicting info.
Lewisohn has John's first post-crash session as July 9th.
I've had this conversation with Mark Lewisohn and there is no evidence to say that John returned to the sessions until 21 July 1969 when they began work on 'Come Together', which is what he said in his 'Hornsey Road' show. John is not in photos from the session on 9, 10 or 17 July. The first time he is photographed with the other Beatles after his crash is the Let It Be screening on 20 July!
Wow! This is news to me --- I will have to talk ask Mark about this the next time I see him. Sounds like a great conversation. This must be new research because as mcarp555 stated he previous had July 9 for the first day of his return. I wonder what John was doing between the time he was released from the hospital and was in the studio. I also wonder when the fan club photos of John were taken -- I know the person from the U.S. had to wait until John was at the studio in order to take them. There is so much conflicting information that it is good to have the real dates.
I just looked at my diaries. I have John coming back on the 21st of July. I never heard of or saw Sean Weiss/Vinnie in London in the late 60's. What I know is he pasted his copyright on top of several of my photos, which I have the negative to. He recently used a photo my friend Denise took of Paul the day I arrived in London (and was beside her when she took it). It's Paul outside EMI studios, wearing a hat, February 14, 1967. It's displayed quite big in the article. I didn't even tell Denise since of course she would be quite upset.
