Since this was the date given by the original photographer, we are going to have to assume it is correct. I was wearing a short sleeved shirt today. It was a mild day.
Yes, Sara, you are right, but there's lot of pics with correct date from those days, and this outfit matches with others from September, along with hair length. At the end of October Hair was most longer and in all pics from those days, John begun to wear heavier cloths an a leather jacket
There is more photos from other fans out there. Just got to convince them that even if the photo is blurry, we will accept anything. Thank you Laura for sharing to this great blog!
The date is August 29th. I found where Laura Porcell posted this pic on her FB page & wrote "TBT. John Lennon 8-29-80 .. On 71st and Columbus ave. he ate at the same restaurant every day .. I worked nearby and anytime he saw my work friends and myself he would always stop to say hi ...".
That's great! She must have corrected herself after I originally saw this photo a few years ago. I had been saving it for quite some time to share it on the 40th anniversary of the photo being taken. Come to find out -- it was the wrong date all along. Oh well!
I saw this pic on your blog & didn't think it looked like October which is why I searched FB for the original post (Laura's post is from 2015). I also like to post 1980 John pics (on my FB) on their 40th anniversary (e.g. today I posted some from the Jack Mitchell sessions from 2nd Nov 1980). I just wish all the 1980 photos had dates. I find it incredible it's been 40 years (I was 14 in 1980).
Sadly, the cafe is gone now, too. Went there a few times when I was in NYC and it had some mementoes of John. The owner, Vincent, was a genuinely nice man. Grrreat photo!
Wow, wow, wow - I can say no more...
ReplyDeleteAmazing photo. What else is lurking out there?
ReplyDeletemore likely September, judging by the light clothes
