Bussing it back home

  1. Does anyone have any details, date, for this? Would you say late-1961? early 62? Before GH got his Ford Anglia...but who took the pic?

  2. O I just saw the caption, 1964? That's odd, they'd all moved to London by then and GH was on to his 2nd car. I wonder where they'd been and where they were going. Maybe not Liverpool at all but a studio bus taking them to a locale for the film HDN?

  4. I THINK this photo is from when George, Pattie, John & Cyn went to Tahiti together.

    1. But on the BUS, Sara? That's definitely a public transport bus. And you know what GH said when asked, “Do you miss going for a bus ride like any other normal person?” at a May 1965 press conference: “The answer’s No! What? Get some dirty old man breathing down your neck. Anyway, you can never get on buses when you want to. I used to stand in bus queues and think how great it would be to have a car, especially when they put the chain across the bus and the conductor says, ‘Sorry — Full!’ I never liked buses and I hate them now, because they get in the way of my posh car.” So I am still utterly baffled by that photo.

    2. Maybe they used this bus to take them from one terminal to the next.

    3. Maybe Sara, but I never saw an airport runway shuttle look exactly like a public transport double decker bus before, so exactly like the public buses I rode in the 1960s and the Beatles rode 30 mins down the motorway from me in the 1950s. I tried staring out the window to discern the scenery! but windows look grotty and the weather looks grey (that does sound like England right away). You can see a spindly tree outside with no leaves, suggesting winter, though only Cyn has a coat, and a bush in background and one flat roof building, so not an airport runway and maybe not a city environment.

    4. It's so frustrating - - writing an article on Beatles on the Bus and this could have been useful. If only we were ON the bus, we could have looked out the window and I could pinpoint where we were! Come to that, we could have asked them - - GH doesn't look especially busy. "George! where are you going? What bus is this?"
