All though the day

This photo was posted by George's estate today in celebration of Paul McCartney's birthday.   However, WE were the ones that got the present, didn't we?    Here we see Paul and George on January 3, 1970, adding the acoustic guitars to the song "I Me Mine."

This is amazingly cool because it is the only photo I am aware of that shows any of the Beatles in a studio together in 1970.   It was the last time any of them got together as The Beatles and performed.  So amazing!!

  5. There was also a session the following day, the 4th, to complete the song. The last session with three Beatles until "Free As A Bird" twenty-five years later.

  6. Geoff Emerick mentioned that George was quite confident and assertive at this session. And no wonder. Here Comes The Sun and Something dominated airplay that Fall, and at the time of this session the latter song was still lingering at #12 stateside. Side note -- actually the last time those 3 were in the studio together was the following day, overdubbing Let it Be.

  7. Fascinating. A year after the rooftop gig. Would be fun to compare this photo side by side with the earliest photo of them. Which would have been, what, 1957?

  8. Sara,
Thank you for my Saturday inspiration: Just listened to the isolated tracks for I Me Mine. 3 brilliant artists. The song features some of my favorite drum work by Ringo.
