The Deleted scene

Filmed on April 22, 1965

There is a deleted scene from A Hard Day's Night that also is between Paul and a pretty girl.  What is up with Paul and girls getting cut out of their movies?

  1. The late Wendy Richard.

  2. Too self-conscious according to director Richard Lester. With Wendy Richard who later went on to star in the British tv comedy Are You Being Served.

  3. The dolly bird in this deleted scene from "Help" was Wendy Richard, who later went on to star in the British TV series "Are You Being Served" and "EastEnders."

  4. For anyone who doesn't know, this is Wendy Richard, who played 'Miss Brahms' for years in a well-known UK sitcom, 'Are You Being Served'. She later went on to play Pauline Fowler on 'Eastenders', a UK soap opera.

And he is Frankie Howard, well-known UK comedian known for his overly camp manner and toupee.

  5. 1. This scene is from HELP! and it involves Wendy Richard, who was more famously known for starring on Are You Being Served?

    2. The reason Paul's solo scenes in A Hard Day's Night and HELP! got cut is because Paul is to this day not a natural actor. He is very self-conscious in front of the camera and it's as though you can see him on screen struggling not to look directly at the camera lens and give a thumbs-up.

  6. You saw Give My Regards to Broad Street didn't you? He cannot act. Paul overplayed his scenes in the Beatles films, trying too hard to be funny, and they had to be cut. Pink Floyd couldn't use his taped comments on Dark Side of the Moon for the same reason. John's clowning in the films fit the "personality" he'd taken on for the band's image. Ringo and George, on the other hand, were very good in A Hard Day's Night, acting more like realistic characters in the situation.

    1. I think I am trying to forget that Paul is a bad actor. Very good points!

    2. Sheesh, he wasn't that bad. Actually he was pretty good in the Shakespeare skit when they performed A Midsummer's Dream live in 1964, and better than the other three. Perhaps Paul was a better stage than screen 'actor'. His self-consciousness got worse as he got older but by then he had all the Beatles baggage on his shoulders.

  11. Did they have a fling or something? That picture where he touches her chin sure seemed like they were pretty close. As though they were about to kiss.

  12. Look like he was consoling Wendy after telling her their scene failed, lol
