Paul and drums in his garden

Photos by Linda McCartney

Paul was busy in March 1970 taking posing for photographs with his instruments at his home.

  1. I can't help but feeling after all these years that as much as Paul loved Linda, the egomaniac in him absolutely LOVED the fact that she was a photographer who certainly didn't mind photographing him. I couldn't see that happening if he stayed with Jane. (MarkZapp)

    2. I think it was more Linda. She also kept photographing their children. I don't think it did them or Paul much good. The modern equivalent is the excessive posts on Facebook or Instagram that some people indulge in. Perhaps an issue of self-esteem rather than ego. During the Beatle years Paul was no more a ham than the rest of them. It was only when he became Americanized that his behaviour became exaggerated.

    3. yes but even in the early years he was mugging more in pictures than the others

    4. What? "Americanized"? Even before everybody had a camera phone, people used to take pictures of their family. How can Linda taking photos of her kids or her husband be a 'bad' thing for them?

    5. He didn't mug any more than the others from the early years at all. That's just part of the mythology surrounding Paul. If he was, I'd say he was just being more obliging for photographers, being Paul.

    6. mccarp555. Paul hams it up far more in American interviews and late night shows and their silly routines than he does in Britain or elsewhere. I don't know why. There is a difference between normal family photos and photographing to excess which borders on narcissism. Paul is often accused of loving the camera too much, that's all. He never used to be like that, in my opinion.

    8. I have news for you, Ano; he's *always* been like that. Back to the day he sang "Twenty Flight Rock" in front of a slightly drunken John, he's never been shy to toot his own horn. Linda or America did nothing to change it. People I know who are not fans say one reason is because of his ego. But why not? He's 'Paul McBloody Cartney', for crying out loud.

    9. Calm down mate. People are allowed to have differing perceptions, aren't they? No, he wasn't *always* like that. He did change over the years - even those closest to him noticed it, but perhaps you know him better. They all had egos - the band would never have eventuated if they didn't.

    10. You're entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts. Cough up some evidence, "mate".

    12. 'I have news for you' differing PERCEPTIONS and who the hell are these people 'who are not fans' who just happen to suit your prejudices? Where are your 'facts'?

  2. "taking posing"?

This is one of Ringo's original Ludwig kits (his first or second 20-inch set), if memory serves.
