True, but I still don't get it, do you? Why is Paul wearing what appears to be a turkey on his head? What are George and Ringo doing and why is John on the ground under an umbrella? I don't get it.
John's shading himself from the sun, of course ;-)
Remember this was part of the "four seasons" series, four shots from which as we know ended up - quite appropriately - on the cover of American Capitol's "Beatles '65" LP.
I'd assume the above is an "out-take" from the "summer" poses ??
Hey Sara - the hanky on top of the head is a crude form of sun protection preferred by the working class once upon a time. The overall theme seems to be one of summertime since the pic includes a sunbrella, the hanky, cameras and a beach towel.
I think that picture represents summer, Paul has a diving mask on his head, George a towel, umbrella for the beach, Ringo might have a camera, not sure what John has. The Beatles "65" album cover's four pictures were of summer, spring, winter and fall, the season's as they are in England.
There does seem to be an English holiday theme going on here. The turkey is a knotted handkerchief, which was worn by Brits in the sun. George has a picnic table cloth over his shoulder, the table and sun shade, sunglasses, and holding 35mm camera`s.
we still don't get this?? is from July 1964 taken by Bob Whittaker in the 23 West Smithfield is the former London address of Farringdon Studio
