The stories of Tom Petty's condition have been sketchy all day today. Regardless if he is living or not, Tom is in our thoughts and I wanted to have a special post for Tom.
God bless Tom Petty. He is a legend. Amazing to think that he and George were only 2/5 of a supergroup. I got to see Tom in concert twice in 1990 & 1991. He has written some true classics.(MarkZapp)
I never got to see him live, but I always wanted to. One of my college roommates was a big fan and I got turned onto his non Wilbury stuff that weren't radio hits from her. Such talent. I love the video for "I won't back down" with Ringo and George in it. Tom was part of the big Beatles family.
And of course 'Rocky' made an appearance in that video too. Tom was obviously a big support for Olivia and Dhani after George's passing and Dhani posted footage of Olivia enjoying Tom's recent Hyde Park concert on ig so thinking of them especially along with Tom's family. He will be playing Ukeleles with George
Best concert I ever saw hands down was Tom Petty in Gainesville, Florida, in support of his (arguably) best LP, "Full Moon Fever" at the O'Dome. No BS, pyrotechnics, orchestrated moves, or lip syncs. Just darned good rock & roll delivered honestly and earnestly by a gifted band at the height of their popularity in their home town. Goodbye, Tom. Thank you for the music and the memories. Say hello to George and Roy and the rest of the lads for us.
Fell in love with Tom when I first heard "Breakdown" in junior high school. He was always one of the coolest around. Gone way too soon... like so many of the great ones.

DeleteYes, to have 2 Beatles in your video, what can I say? His first solo album, "Full Moon Fever"(1989) is one of my favorites.(MarkZapp)
