It was 50 years ago today---getting closer to Pepper!

  1. I'm wondering... if the photo was a reprint made four years later or did the photographer actually forget until January of 1971 that there was a Beatle sitting and waiting on a roll of undeveloped film? — Joe L.

    1. I took this photo outside Paul's house. My original print is from the actual date, but every time I made copies for friends - and I made many of that photo and others for pen-pals all over the world - the date printed on the photo is when the store printed it, not when it was taken. I still have most of my original prints plus negatives and/or slides. They are all in my book. The few I didn't have were scanned for me by friends I had made copies for.

    1. Yes. Ringo and Paul were wearing capes for that shoot.

    2. A rough translation of my diary entry for that day (from my book in Portuguese, "Do Rio a Abbey Road"): "Went to Cav. Saw Paul leaving: navy blue cape (got stuck in the car door), black, white and red checked socks, red and white scarf. I took one photo of him. He was smoking, smiling. He came back with Ringo and John, who was wearing pink corduroy trousers, long flowered kaftan, red jacket, scarf and a badge "Camp Here". He smiled - beautiful! He said "Open in the name of the law" and "They all love you, Paul". He left later on, made a funny face and smiled. He didn't go to EMI, I think he went home. I stayed until 10:00pm and Paul didn't go out. His cousin was there. I went back home and heard some songs from the LP on Radio London. I love him." (Please don't copy this text elsewhere, thank you).
