It was 50 years ago today that Paul McCartney met Linda Eastman at the Bag O'Nails club in London. The band Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames were playing. Linda was there with the members of the Animals.
Linda's smile caught Paul's eye and he approached her and said, "We're going on to another club after this, would you like to join us?" Linda said she yes and a group of them went to the "Speakeasy" Club. While they were at this club, they heard the song "Whiter Shade of Pale" for the first time that night and everyone at the table was blown away by the great song. After that Paul invited Linda back to 7 Cavendish to see his original Magritte paintings.
A few days later they met up again at the Sgt. Pepper party at Brian Epstein's house. Linda was there as a photographer. As you can see in the photos, she seemed to have spent some time with Paul that day, taking his photo and talking. Maybe I am crazy, but I can sense chemistry between them in these photos.
Of course this famous couple didn't official get together for another year after this first meeting, but who knows what would have happened if they both weren't at the Bag O'Nails club 50 years ago today.
Interesting... I didn't know Linda had gone to Cavendish Ave. that night. You're not crazy, I sense something going on there too! Life is made up of moments like these. What if they hadn't gone to the same club that night? I'm glad they did.
