John is wearing the same polka-dotted tie here that he wore during his immigration hearings. And look at Yoko smile in the bottom photo! Maybe people would have warmed up to Yoko quicker in the early days if they had seen more photos of her smiling and having fun.
Yoko once said that her mother told her that "Smiles are for shopkeepers;" in other words, it makes you look as though you are trying to be ingratiating, and it is undignified.
