Last performance in England until 1969
50 years ago (May 1, 1966) The Beatles performed at the NME awards. Due to legal reasons the Beatles performance was not recorded. However, plenty of photographs survived.

Apparently there was a ferocious backstage argument between John and Brian Epstein regarding the filming of the Beatles' NME Poll Winners performance that year. Which had already been negotiated and agreed to... but then John, at the *very* last minute, demanding the cameras be turned off for their set.
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say John won THAT argument... ;-)
