50 years ago: Beatles MBE interview

After the news broke that the four Beatles were going to be awarded as Members of the British Empire in October of 1965, a press conference was thrown together so that the Beatles could be photographed and interviewed about it all.

However, John overslept and things did not run on time.  Alf Bicknell had to go out to Kenwood and fetch John out of bed and he must not have even bothered to brush his moptop, because he had a bad case of "bedhead" going on during the interview.
John are you awake?   John and Cyn make it to the interview

  1. Brian Epstein went out to Kenwood to get John out of bed for the interview. John deliberately didn't comb his hair in protest. John's chauffeur, Alf Bicknell, drove them in the Rolls to Twickenham, where, after the interview, they also watched a preview of HELP!

  2. Hey, I've always wondered why Lennon's hair was such a mess in this interview clip, thanks for that little bit of info!

  4. By the look of it, I don't think John had his contact lenses on either. Thanks for the info, Lynn!
