Take me down to the Cavern

Here is a great piece of Beatles history!    In the top photo there are fans watching the Beatles perform at the Cavern Club.  Who do you spot in the middle of the photograph?   Why that is Freda Kelly, who of course became the Beatles fan club secretary.    Underneath the photo is a slip of paper with a request for George Harrison to play "She's got the Devil in her heart."    The Cavern fans would write requests on slips of paper and pass them up to the Beatles on the stage.   If one of the Beatles played your request and said your name, then you were just awe struck!

  1. Thanks so much for posting this, Sara! The Cavern days were really wonderful (how fantastic it must have been to be able to send up requests as notes, or by phone, and be able to hang out with The Beatles in the band room), and reading and seeing anything about those times is always a treat.
