So a radio station from Connecticut ran a contest in 1965 ran a contest and the winners of the contest got to fly to London and meet the Beatles backstage during their concert at the Hammersmith Odeon! You can see here that DJ Lee Gray and the two winners, Jill and Diane are all doing some crazy handshake backstage. What a great prize they won!
Looks like late '64 to me. I wonder if the source you found on this might have put the wrong date. Oh well.

ReplyDeleteYou know what I think it is?? The Beatles at Hammersmith Odeon in January 1965 at the end of the Christmas show there. The article I read said that they were there in 1965 and I assumed the 1965 UK tour because they performed at the Odeonon Dec 10. But I didn't think about the January dates of the of Christmas show. I bet that is it.

A friend of mine also had one of the autographed albums Lee Gray brought back from England- It's "Beatles for Sale" - We sent pictures of it to 5 experts and they all said the signatures were forgeries :( It has made somebody very upset!
DeleteLee Gray is my father. His real name was Royce Lee Darling. He passed away in Houston on March 8, 1996.
