Friar Park in 1939

There has been a lot of interest in any photos I have posted of Friar Park.    A kind reader named Jeremy sent an amazing photograph taken by his mother of Friar Park in 1939.    And while his mum has passed away many years ago, he is sure that she would be pleased to share the photo she took.  As a child she lived near Henely and visited Friar Park often.

Thank you so much to Jeremy for sharing this amazing photo!

Regarding your recent photo of Friar Park before George and Patti bought it, the Park used to be a Catholic Girls School.  The school was called Sacred Heart and was likely the inspiration for the Shakespears Sister song of the same name (the duo recorded some of their music at George's studio at Friar Park).  Here's a photo of the school taken by my mother in Henley-on-Thames in 1939. The Park was open to visitors at the time.
