More about Paul's "date"

Thanks to Cara and Lynn, I have re-sparked my interest in figuring out who this girl is.   For some reason many moons ago,  on one of the Beatle photo forums I was involved with, we decided that the girl with the flowers in her hair was Paul's date. Someone believed that she was someone Paul dated for a short period of time.    Ken Wood do you recall this discussion?

So I went through my photos and this is what I came up with.
Here is the first time we spot the "mystery girl."  She is coming in to see the Yellow Submarine, just mixed in with the crowd.

The next time we spot her is seated in the theater, waiting for the movie.  She is obviously included in the Beatles "inner circle" as she is seated directly behind the Fab 4 and their wives (and also Neil) and next to Ron Kass.   Here we see that Jenny Boyd is sitting next to Paul.

The last we see of her is this photo of her and Paul getting into the car to leave to go to the after-party.  Paul appears to be talking to her and getting in the car with her.

And here we see Paul living it up at the Revolution club after party.  No sigh of flower girl, is there?  Who is the girl sitting next to him?   Is that Jenny across from him?

While he and Jane had broken up by this time, it was not public knowledge.   Not until a few days later on the 21st of July does Paul make the announcement (well Jane actually breaks the news first).  So whoever would have been Paul's date to the Yellow Sub premiere, it would have been totally a secret.  Paul may as well not have had a date and just went stag and had a good time as a single man for one of the few times in his life.

  1. I do recall that we talked about this mystery girl but not much more. Maybe one of those Beatlegirls or Beatlebrides sites can help us out? Never learned so much about the love interests of the Beatles than there.

  2. This isn't any help in identifyling the mystery woman, but I noticed in the photo of Paul getting into the car behind her that he is leaving in a different car than in which he arrived. Paul, John and Yoko had arrived together in Paul's 1927 Hispano Suiza - definitely not the car he's leaving in. The official Yellow Submarine after-party was held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel where the discotheque was renamed "Yellow Submarine" for the occasion. Have seen a photo of George and Pattie there and Ringo and Maureen arriving, but for Paul there is, so far, only the photo at the Revolution Club - so he must have made the rounds after the premiere. This is a totally wild guess, but the man and woman sitting opposite Paul in the Revolution Club photo might be Mal Evans and wife Lil?

  3. Wish I could help solve this mystery, Sara. Here's an idea: Ringo's had some luck recently finding mystery people in photos... maybe he could help you out? ;-)

  5. This is slightly off-topic, but... Are the people seated behind the Beatles, art dealer Robert Fraser and Keith Richards?

  6. This is off topic... But the two men behind the Beatles (they are after Ron Kass and smoking) appear to be art dealer Robert Fraser and Rolling Stone Keith Richards. Agree?

  7. The people next to Ron Kass, behind the Beatles are art dealer Robert Fraser and Keith Richards.

  8. Yes, that definitely is Keith Richards and Anita Pallenberg. I don't think the mystery woman looks anything like Maggie McGivern though.

  9. The girl with Paul in the last photo is not the mystery girl as her hair is combed straight back. It is definitely not Maggie McGivern. Her hair was much darker. In the photo of her getting into the car, we really don’t know if Paul got into the car with her, do we? If so, whoever she is, she was a lucky girl!
