George's opinion
With the new Mark Lewisohn book coming out tomorrow (although I pre-ordered mine unautographed from The Fest so I won't be getting it for a few more days), I thought this George Harrison autograph was appropriate. It has been a long time since I read Philip Norman's book, Shout!. I recall there were a lot of issues with it, but I don't remember what they were. I just thought George opinion was too funny. While he signed the book, he put a question mark next to Philip Norman (as in who is this guy?) and marked out "true" to make it say "The False Story of the Beatles." I am sure Mr. Norman wouldn't appreciate that, but I found it funny.

ReplyDeleteI think this is the one that Paul always mentions, about George "patiently waiting with his plectrum to play".
It is a very well-written book, and for the time, had a lot of stuff that had never been reported before, even if some of it has been since debunked.
But it will never hold a candle to Lewhison's book! On the other hand, it's ten thousand times better than that horrible Bob Spitz book that everyone (non-Beatle media) was crowing about a couple of years ago, now THAT was bad!!!!
