Jock and Yono

I thought John and Yoko's wedding anniversary was the perfect day to share these photos of the trip to Scotland with Julian and Kyoko in June 1969.   They are meeting with fans and groups of people from the area.

  1. These are wonderful, looks so 'British', and the Lennons trying hard to look like a normal family with 2 kids and an Austin Maxi. A double fantasy indeed. Soon after this, Kyoko's father went hell bent on keeping his little girl away from the couple didn't he? And them releasing records about their heroin use probably didn't help things in terms of deciding custody.

  2. On the ride home was the accident which provided John and Yoko with slight head injuries...unless I'm mistaken?!

  3. Lovely pictures..they look so 'normal' yet so 'alien' at the same time.
Yes, famously Lennon crashed the car on July 1st .. perhaps because he was rushing home, late for the Abbey Road sessions which were due to start on that day.

  5. These photos were taken in Liverpool of John, Yoko, Julian and Kyoko visiting the Holmbrook Special School on June 26, 1969 shortly before they went up to Scotland.

  7. In the background of the third photo is the man John is shaking hands with in the first photo. I wonder if he`s a relative of John`s who has set up the visit to Holmrook, they all seem very happy to see him.

In the second photo John is at his Aunt Harriet`s on Gateacre Park Rd, Woolton, about ten minutes from Menlove Ave. He bought the house for his Aunt (his mum`s sister).

Apart from introducing Yoko to his family, this "roadtrip" turned out to be his goodbye to the UK and places that were important to him such as North Wales, Liverpool and Edinburgh.
