All of these photos were taken by Morgan Richards. I hope that he shares the story behind the photos in the near future. It is nice to know that they were taken in March of 1972. Photos of John from this event have been floating around fan circles for many years. I could tell they were 1972, but could not narrow it down any more. As you can tell from the watermark on the photo, they were from the Lennon facebook page. The link to the page is on the right under "best photo spots."

These were taken at the Demille Theatre in NYC for the movie premiere for 'The Concert for Bangla Desh'. There were two showings for the movie, John & Yoko along with Jerry Rubin showed up for the 2nd showing.
ReplyDeleteThe flashbulbs were blinding when J&Y were spotted. They proceeded to find themselves a seat. Jerry lit a joint and he and John were passing it back and forth trying to hide it with a bag of popcorn lol
When the movie started, John was passing comments about how good George's 'new teeth' looked on film. Yoko said nothing 'thankfully'. John watched the movie very closely, making little comments to Jerry about the musicians on stage, etc. The comments weren't anything interesting, just little acknowledgements, etc.
It was fun to watch John passing the joint to Jerry along with the bag of popcorn lol
